today was the day we went to the great minnesota get together. aka our state fair. the minnesota state fair is unlike any other. it is huge. and. its a money maker. they have some of the BEST fair food that you can imagine. its not your run of the mill stuff. its all really good. ok not all. but it is what brings people in by the busloads. for example, i had: a pronto pup (a corn dog that you can watch them batter and fry right in front of you), a taste of ostrich, alligator bytes (fried of course), hush puppies, fresh squeezed lemonade, hot grilled corn on the cob (YUM!), mini donuts, sweet martha's choco chip cookies (YUM!) and i was stuffed. those who went with me also got: veggie eggroll on a stick (everythings on a stick...), pork chop on a stick. the one thing we didnt get, which we shoulda, was cheese curds. oops. these are a total tradition. and we missed out.
