phone card

today was another day of diving and reading and watching the sky. its a wonderful thing to be able to come here. i'm very lucky to have parents who are willing to bring me here every year. lucky and spoiled.
i did find myself wishing for someone to be here also though. someone to help break the monotony of my parent's prattering at each other. my mom can be soooo negative. i think she is sorta bitter for some reason. i think she has felt stifled in her life. shes great too tho. shes a blast to be around cuz she is so full of energy. that is also unnerving sometimes too.

a few years ago, my ex came down with us, and it was a blast. just having someone there to hang with is quite a nice thing. plus its a great place to be. its the tropics afterall. i'd bring her again just as a friend if it wasnt so weird. i mean i've yet to go look at the sunset here, and i know its a nice one. the big joke is to look for some 'green flash' as the sun hits the horizon. i keep telling my mom its just retinal burn, not any sort of flash. shes convinced you can see it even on the video tape...

this year's trip has been one where we played with the phone system. they just put in a dozen phone booths all throughout the island. they dont take coin tho, they just take some sort of smart-phone card. so we've been playing and learning how to best use it.

theres lots of stray dogs and cats here, many more than before. hopefully the local animal shelter can take care of them. basically they just wander the streets beggin for food. i imagine this is a common thing at most resort places, but here i fear for them.
